How Much Does a Control4 System Cost in Los Angeles?

September 9, 2026 5 min read

A Control4 system in Los Angeles usually costs from $10,000 for a focused single-system setup to $75,000 and up for full estate automation. Three things set the number: the controller tier, how many systems you integrate, and how many touch panels and remotes you want. As a Control4 Authorized Platinum Dealer we program every system in-house, and the proposal is itemized before any work starts. Every number below is a range from real projects. The only way to get your number is a free on-site consultation and an itemized proposal, and you can start that at our contact page or by calling (424) 301-7661.

What do the tiers look like?

TierTypical rangeWhat it covers
Focused system$10,000 to $20,000One controller, one system (lighting, AV, or theater), a remote or keypads, app and voice control
Whole-home$20,000 to $45,000Lighting, climate, AV, and security across the home, several keypads, a touch panel, scenes programmed
Estate$45,000 to $75,000 and upEvery system including shades, cameras, locks, audio, and pool or landscape, multiple touch panels, custom programming

What drives the price?

Controller tier. Control4 controllers scale with the number of devices and rooms. Sizing it right the first time avoids a replacement when you add a system later.

Integrated systems. Each system you bring under Control4 adds interface hardware and programming: lighting, shades, climate, cameras, locks, audio, and AV each have their own cost.

Interfaces. Keypads are the workhorse. Touch panels and handheld remotes add cost per room. Most homes mix a few panels with keypads everywhere else.

Programming. Scenes, schedules, and conditional behavior take time to program and test. A Platinum Dealer does this every week, which is why it is included rather than billed hourly.

Existing wiring and gear. A pre-wired home in Hidden Hills or a takeover of an older Control4 system costs less than starting from nothing.

What is included?

Design, the controller and interface hardware, installation, in-house programming, commissioning, and a walkthrough. 4Sight, Control4's optional remote-access subscription, is explained before you decide.

Is it worth it over a DIY smart home?

For one or two rooms of consumer gadgets, no. For a home where you want lighting, shades, climate, cameras, and audio to behave as one system, with a dealer who can service it for years, yes. Read the Control4 installation page for how a Platinum install runs.

Common questions

Questions people ask about this

Can you upgrade an older Control4 system instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. Newer controllers replace older ones while keeping much of the existing hardware, and reprogramming fixes scenes that never worked. We assess the system before quoting.
Is 4Sight required?
No. The system runs locally without it. 4Sight adds remote access and voice features for an annual fee.
How is Platinum Dealer pricing different?
The hardware pricing is Control4's. What differs is the programming depth and support behind it, which is included in the proposal rather than billed by the hour.
How long does a Control4 install take?
A focused system can be done in a few days. A whole-home system typically takes two to four weeks including programming and commissioning.
