Smart Home
Most smart home systems are a collection of apps. You open one app for the lights, another for the thermostat, a third for the TV. Control4 is different. It is a single platform that connects every system in your home into one interface: one app, one remote, one touchscreen, or one voice command.
Here is what that looks like in practice.
Morning
You wake up and your bedroom lights ramp up to 30% over five minutes. The shades rise to let in natural light. The thermostat adjusts. The kitchen lights come on and the coffee maker starts. You did not touch a switch. You set this once, during the programming session, and it happens automatically every morning at the time you picked.
This is called a "Good Morning" scene. It runs off a schedule, a motion trigger in the bedroom, or a single tap on the Control4 app. Any of the three.
Leaving the house
You press one button on the way out: "Away." Every light turns off. Shades go down. Thermostat adjusts to eco mode. The security system arms. The garage closes if you left it open. That button does not require you to remember anything, check anything, or run back inside. It just closes the house.
LA homes lose a surprising amount of energy to lights and climate running all day while no one is home. "Away" mode addresses that without requiring any behavior change on your part.
Movie night
You sit down on the couch and press "Movie" on the Control4 remote. The lights dim to 5%. The shades drop. The receiver powers on, the projector drops from the ceiling, and the right HDMI input switches automatically. The room is ready before you pick what to watch.
This is the sequence we program during commissioning. You can adjust any part of it any time through the app, or call us to update it.
Checking cameras from your phone
Anywhere you are, you can pull up the Hikvision NVR feed inside the Control4 app and see every camera on the property in real time. If a motion alert fires, you see it on your phone and tap through to the live view. No separate app, no second login.
What the programming session covers
When we install a Control4 system, the final step is always a programming and commissioning session on-site. We set up every scene with you present, walk you through the app, and adjust anything that does not feel right. We do not leave until the system works the way you expected it to.
After the install, you can call us for scene updates, new device additions, or anything that changes in the home. Control4 systems are meant to evolve as you do.
Is Control4 right for every home?
Not every home needs Control4. If the project is primarily about lighting, Lutron Caseta or RadioRA may be the right answer at a lower cost point. If the project is a single room or a single device, a standalone solution might be better.
Control4 makes the most sense when the project involves multiple systems, AV, climate, lighting, shades, security, and access, and the goal is to run them all from a single platform. For those projects, there is nothing else at the price point that does what Control4 does.
If you want to understand whether your home is a fit, the best next step is a free 15-minute phone consultation. We will ask about the scope and tell you honestly which direction makes sense.
