Security
A residential security camera system in Los Angeles typically costs $2,500 to $15,000, and a basic multi-camera setup starts around $1,500. The number moves with camera count, resolution, recorder storage, how the wiring runs, and whether you add monitored alarm integration. We design the coverage first, then quote it. Every number below is a range from real projects. The only way to get your number is a free on-site consultation and an itemized proposal, and you can start that at our contact page or by calling (424) 301-7661.
What do the tiers look like?
| Tier | Typical range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $1,500 to $3,500 | Three to four wired cameras at entrances, an NVR with two to four weeks of storage, phone access |
| Standard | $3,500 to $8,000 | Six to eight 4K cameras covering the perimeter and driveway, NVR with longer retention, motion alerts tuned, doorbell camera |
| Estate | $8,000 to $15,000 | Full perimeter and interior coverage, cloud backup, alarm integration, cameras on TVs and in the Control4 app |
What drives the price?
Camera count and resolution. More cameras and higher resolution cost more in hardware and in storage. Coverage design keeps the count honest: cameras where sightlines matter, not one on every wall.
Recording and retention. Local NVR storage sized for two to four weeks is standard. Longer retention or cloud backup adds cost and protects footage if the recorder is taken.
Wiring. Wired cameras are the right call for nearly every home, and the cost of running that wiring depends on the house. A single-story with attic access in Tarzana is quicker than a hillside home in Studio City with no crawl space.
Integration. Showing cameras on TVs, in the Control4 app, or tying them to a monitored alarm adds hardware and programming.
What is included?
Coverage design, cameras, NVR and storage, concealed wiring, configuration of motion zones and alerts, remote viewing on your phone, and a walkthrough.
How long does it take?
Most installs are completed in one to three days. Larger estates with full perimeter coverage can take about a week.

Common questions
Questions people ask about this
- Are wireless cameras cheaper?
- Up front, sometimes. Over time, no. Battery changes, dropped Wi-Fi, and gaps in recording cost more than the wiring did. We install wireless only where a wire is impractical.
- Do I need a permit for cameras?
- Camera and NVR wiring is low-voltage, and most residential installs do not require a separate permit. If the system ties into a monitored alarm, some cities require an alarm permit, and we point you to the filing.
- Is there a monthly fee?
- Not for a local NVR system. Cloud backup and monitored alarm service each carry a subscription if you choose them.
- Can I add cameras later?
- Yes. We size the NVR with spare channels and leave pathways so adding a camera is a short visit, not a redesign.
